On Saturday the Jan 19th we kicked off our 2008 tournament season. From what just a day or so before looked to be very windy and cold turned out to be a great day for fishing. Most of the day would hold very light winds and temps in the mid to upper 30's( Not bad for Jan). Many new faces would help kick off this season and many new friendships would start on this day as well. 14 teams would fish this day in hopes of seeing if they can find two Catfish to bring to the scales. At 8 am one by one teams would take off out of Fort Washington Marina into the waters of the Potomac River. Some would head south and some north and a few would just hang around the waters at fort washington. The bite would be some what slow do to the temps over the last few day and a few inches of snow that came just two days before. But 12 of the 14 teams would bring fish to the scales and a few big fish at that. 1st place with 89.6 lb and winning 280.00 would go to Jeff Fink Sr & Jeff Fink Jr and they would also take home big fish prize with their 45.2 lb blue and 260.00 2nd place with 83.4 lbs and 175.00 goes to Shawn Wetzel and Gene Mumma 3rd place with 74.6 lbs and 105.00 would go to Tim trigger and his two guest from Montana Mike & Dustin Graham Other Teams fishing today our as follows Allen Crocker, Matt Cline, Justin Lowe 32.6 & 40.8 = 73.4 lbs Tim & Greg Hagan, Tawn Tipsword, Clay Arnold 39.2 & 28.4 = 67.6 Rob & Rose Wills, Brian Rupp 41.6 & 22.2 = 63.8 Rick jenkins, Bryan Sirotkin 27.6 & 16.8 = 44.4 Robert Geiger, Stephen Peppell 23.8 & 12.2 = 36.0 Mike Meyer, Carlos Hathcod 19.4 & 12.0 = 31.4 Cliffton Jenkins, Doug Sanders 21.0 & 9.8 = 30.8 Ricky Davidson, Jon King, Doug Bailey 20.6 ( only one fish) Matry Scott, Sabin Rausch 5.0 & 2.2 = 7.2 James Tyler, Harry Mathews, Jonathan Eyler & Tony Howard, Nathan Keller ( no fish) In all 23 fish was weighed in with 6 over 40 lbs for a total weight of 547.6 lbs of Bluecats with avg weight of 23.8 lbs. And the total payout for today was $820.00. we thank all who fished today and all who showed up to watch and share in our fun and we look forward to see everybody again on Feb 9th right back here at Fort Washington marina. |
