We kicked off the West Vriginia Chapter at 7 am and it
very foggy. Six teams would show up to the first of
many West Virginia tournament. The bite was slow as
the river had drop a few feet over the last 3 days. But all
teams seem to find a few channel cats and had a great
time during so.

1st place went to Todd , tristan & Jason Lutman with 5
fish at 16.4 lbs and big fish of the day at 4.6 lbs they
would take home $166.00 for 1st and 120.00 for big fish

2nd place would be Michael Pippenger with 13.2 lbs and
taking home 75.00 for 2nd place

May 24 Potomac River dam #5 four locks. the tournament
started at 7 pm with lots of sun and falling water. Temps was
mid 70's to start out but as night fall start to move in the
temps start to move down to low 40's by weigh in time. The
bite would also be slow all night as the water would drop
some 18" over night.
But all 11 teams would hang around to see who would be the
luck ones at this outting. 1st place would go to Luther &
Robert Ardinger with 31.6 lbs taking home $220.00 for their
win and another $220.00 for big fish with 8.8 lbs.

2nd place would go to two new members of the west virginia
chapter Cliff Wolfe & Steve Reed with 22.0 lbs and $138.00

3rd place would be Mike Corbin & Carroll Greenfield with
19.8 lbs and taking $83.00
4th place Kenneth Kalbaugh / William James / Donny White
with12.6 lbs

June 28 Potomac River Dam #4 this was a very nice turnout with 26 teams
showing up to fish. Many showing up 2 or 3 hours before just to setand around
and talk with other anglers. Short after the start of the tournament a big storm
blowed over and for about 20 mins is was all out raining. Winds reported over
60 MPH and over 1" of rain.Then is was over as fast as it came in and the bite
was alot better than it has been in the last few weeks.

This was the first tournament for the new west virginia officers Kenneth
Kalbaugh is now the chapter president - Carroll Greenfield as Vice president &
Mike Corbin as Tournament Director Thanks for stepping up and working to
keep this chapter growing even more.

The Upper potomac river on a great night cool with very little wind. 23

It was a hard night of fishin the grass and low water levels with very
little water flow at all made it hard to get to the fish and the target
weight of 19 lbs. A lot of the jet boat had to pull there boats off rocks
this night. But it was still a great night to be fishin but a cool one as
temps dropped into the mid 40’s. We also would like to welcome the
12 new members that signed up to the catfish Nation last night as

The West Virginia Championship was the best day of fishing this season with
a nice cool day in the 60’s and very little wind. The bite was slow for some
and great for others like always finding the right water for the day. We would
like to thank the Potomac fish & Game club for letting us use their ramp for
this tournament. Was great to see a lot of their members come down just to
watch the weigh in and meet some of the gang. After the weigh in we would
award the chapter champs for 2008 Frank Skipper & Dave Snoke and the
2008 angler of the year Mike Corbin.
